  • How to Paint a Room Your Kids can Grow With

  • orlando interior painting team offers tips for nurseriesRedecorating a room is an exciting rite of passage for a child. First comes the transition from a crib to a big-kid bed, then the addition of a desk for schoolwork, and later on more additions to help fuel their passions and creativity. But while this is all fun and delight for kids, it can be a real pain for parents to have to completely overhaul their children’s rooms when they reach the next steps in life.

Fortunately, modern interior design can help make the process easier. From the interior painting team at Orlando Painting and Drywall, here are a few tips to help you set up a room that will grow and change right along with your children:

    • Start off with neutral colors. Nowadays, it’s somewhat dated to decorate nurseries with gender-specific baby blues and pinks – who is to say whether or not your child actually likes those colors so early in life? Instead, select a cool neutral palette for the baby’s room. It’ll give you plenty of flexibility and work well with whatever decorations and toys your child desires.
    • Listen to what your child wants. Of course, it’s not going to be possible to give in to every little whimsy your child may have, but if you pay attention to what they’re telling you, you can get some good hints. Take note of their favorite color, their favorite scenes from books and movies, etc. and you’ll be able to select a palette that will absolutely delight them.
    • Make good use of your accents. Accent walls are our favorite when it comes to a child’s room. By playing up the accents and saving the big, bold colors for a couple sections around the room, you’ll make future painting and redecorating much easier. If you started with a neutral palette as we suggested, changing up the look of the room will be a breeze.

Your children are fun and creative and they should have a room that matches their personalities. But don’t let the notion of a few redecorations get you down – a little forethought and planning can make the process easier for everyone.
